The GHS I/T layoffs were due some organizational restructuring and changes in overall operations. Some very good people were let go, as can be said for many such restructuring changes elsewhere. It remains an overall excellent I/T group at GHS. On a positive note: look for additional I/T hiring in the next couple years to support their changeover to a new electronic records system.

Any idea what system they are switching to? I work in IT in Augusta, GA at GRU (Medical College of Georgia) and hope to be moving back up that way in the next few years.

They might be switching over to Epic which is based just outside of Madison, WI: http://www.epic.com/ My mom would be going up there for training if a contract is signed due to working in the information services building located behind the old Blood Connection.

Epic is crazy, interviewed there for fun/XP after undergrad and it was pretty apparent the kool-aid everyone there was drinking! Surprised they picked Epic's solution. Madison is a nice town though.
