That's a mighty piece of expensive property for "affordable" apartments. I am betting it will be similar to ONE. Office and retail in midrises. Needs to blend with the Peace Center and extension of the Riverplace look. Maybe they can call it "TWO"
You are probably right. I just think downtown would be much more "real" if more people, especially younger people, could actually live there.
Only one IMAX can be located in the county thanks to a stupid contract Ike and it went to Simpsonville.
Wow, that is very foolishly short-sighted, especially considering the distance from much of Greenville and poor nature of the Simpsonville theater's surroundings.

Yep, it is really sad. I remember reading about it in the paper when Great Escape opened.

True for the evening shows, however, I have visited that theater only once (a Christmas gift) and would consider visiting an IMAX theater in Greenville more frequently. Greenville is already large enough to support more than a single 330-seat IMAX theater and the area is continually growing at a steady/healthy rate.

gman, we all know that you are a Simpsonville hater.
Now to get back on topic, I'm not sure if we need another hotel downtown, but a mini-convention center may be something that can bring in tourists.
A hotel with a convention center is a wise investment. If a hotel was built adjacent to TD Convention Center as planned many years ago, you would have more activity.
Doesn't this property overlook the Reedy River and Liberty Bridge? if so, this has to be one of the most valuable properties in the city of Greenville - I really think whatever replaces the Greenville News building needs to be Greenville's "showpiece"
