After you touted Greenville and the Upstate’s history as a big draw.
“…a notable restaurant and music scene, myriad cultural and sports activities and hotels that appeal to the most discerning visitors.” - from the article I posted.
Not sure what’s so historic about sailing around the periphery of the peninsula, as the article recommended. And one need not give a flip about history to enjoy the gardens with awe, in the city or on the old plantations.
Edit: “…King Street, the ‘Soho of the South,’ where you’ll find an interesting mix of national and international brands along with locally-owned businesses.” -also from the article I posted
I didn't say Upstate history is a big draw.
I said the Upstate has history tourist sites but they don't get hyped up because there's no beach.
Well, of course! This explains why Greenville is the new hotness.
I assume you are trying to do satire but it doesn't make sense. You shouldn't have to make up bizarre quotes and use exclamation marks to satirize something, if it is legit. You are trying to clown your strawmen.

I understand that you are not the OP. But you do realize that this thread is Apples and Oranges, yes?
This is going to be controversial but this is probably the biggest thing that Charleston has over Greenville. Greenville is a very red town. It's improving but still has a long way to go. Great if you are a white straight male not so much if you are a female, minority or LGBTQ+.
I disagree some here. As a person of ethnic background I love Greenville as does my family. Much of my family in the DC area have desires to move here and they visit often. The actual urban areas of Greenville have become more diverse.
I would like to spend a weekend in Greenville later in the year. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay, bars and restaurants etc ? I know the area outside of town pretty well and the outdoor activities that are available. I havent been there for maybe 10 years. Thanks !
What is an example of a nook and cranny the average tourist would visit?
I think Greenville could increase tourism significantly if the city ran television ads presenting Greenville as the Asheville alternative, especially if they run the ads on networks with an audience more likely to be open to the message. The average CNN and MSNBC viewer probably can not be talked into visiting Greenville over Asheville.
Greenville could never be considered an ‘alternative’ to Asheville - both have their own unique qualities. The beauty is that they are not far apart and both can be visited on the same trip.

The point was that Greenville is more conservative than Charleston, relatively speaking. Is that even debatable?

People can chose to visit Greenville rather than Asheville. How is it not an alternative.
