Moving to Greenville (North: housing, nurse, places to see)

My wife and I are recently married and are looking at moving away from Northern Va due to various reasons (e.g. traffic, housing cost, attitude) We have some friends in Greenville and will be taking a trip there this weekend the 28th to scout out the area. Can anyone give us some ideas of places to see (other than downtown...that's a must) ? My wife is a nurse and I am in sales/marketing so we'd like to know how abundant both of those careers are down there as well.

We do have a shortage of nurses so that should not be a problem. Depending on what you like to do, I would check out some of the lakes, (Hartwell and Keowee), ride toward the mountains (especially up highway 11), go to Paris Mountain State Park.
