70 years would be 2013.

It would seem their website is quite out of date.

Had the opportunity to check out Caviar and Bananas. Very nice space. Comfortable with many hot and cold food options. Breakfast menu looks very appealing. Nice wine section. Any kind of bottled beverage you could imagine. Great for those that like the fast casual fare. The cold case had selections that allowed you to choose three items for $11.50 for one pound. Also had a complete salad bar where your salad is prepared to your liking while you look on. Good option for those that want to eat healthy without all the cooking. Flow of patrons is a little odd as it is meant for milling/shopping but sometimes all that gets in the way of those that want to hit the food line for lunch and move on. Good place to eat and hang out with your laptop.

There is a place similar to this in St Petersburg FL, though much larger, called Locale Market. Discover Locale Market - A Curated Grocery Experience When it opened in late 2014 it was extremely busy and had the same issue. People checking it out and wandering around shopping the groceries just seemed to be in the way of the food bars, wine bar, coffee bar, sandwich shop, etc.... Apparently, since I moved away, they finally realized that the groceries were not a very big draw, and everyone was there for ready to eat food. They have done away with a large selection of the groceries and expanded the prepared and fresh foods, and it seems to make a lot more sense for both the owners and the customers. Perhaps Caviar and Bananas will follow suit, eventually.

Perhaps Caviar and Bananas chose to expand their gift/food options to accommodate the hotel and visitor traffic downtown while still serving their core business model (from the Charleston store)? But that milling around and gawking in the flow of the lunch crowd was a bit much. I kept having to say "Excuse me" while walking in front of people to get to the order/check out counter for lunch. The staff was attentive so that is a plus but this is Day One.

Clemson is getting a https://www.raisingcanes.com/ in a new food court being built on campus according to News 4 last night. I wonder if they will expand further in the upstate.

Also a Twisted Taco which if I am not mistaken I have seen in ATL but never tried.

Clemson has 20,000 hungry students. I would be there too if I owned a fast food place.

There used to be a Panda Express near the Publix on Batesville Rd and The Parkway in Greenville.
