rifleman: Interesting to read that about the XD(M)s. I've seen them advertised, but never read any tests on them.

chucksnee: I had one of the Beretta 92s, and thought it was a great gun. Mine was accurate and functioned flawlessly.

I have heard nothing but good things about this pistol from actual owners.

My husband has an XD45 and we both love it. Compared to the .40 cal Glock I tried at the range, I thought the XD had less recoil. Or, at least, more easy to control recoil.

I prefer a revolver for every day carry though. Less things to go wrong and no brass left at the scene.

In FBI studies a 40 caliber does more damage to organs since a 45 caliber bullet goes right through. So if you want it for self defense it would make more sense to get a 40. Also for practicing the ammo would be much cheaper. A 45 does tend to be more steady with more of a straight back kick where as the 40 has more of a flip. I think all pistols are beautiful.. : )

If you use your gun in a self defense situation I don't think you'd be leaving the scene, thus your brass won't be leaving either

.45 ammo isn't cheap, that's for sure. But you can buy a sack of reloads for a reasonable price. Having three sizes of ammo would be inconvenient.

The 1911 is classic. Instead of getting a Taurus, I'd suggest selling one of your other pistols and using that money towards another brand of 1911, like Colt or Springfield.

Never know. My father had someone jump in his truck hold him up. He gave him a 20, as the guy turned dad shot him in the leg. Told him to keep the 20.

Had a Revolver of theirs which would tie up after a couple cylinders.

Once it cooled down it was fine.

Seen MANY of their Semi Autos fail in training.

I was thinking about one of their 1911's with a rail. Figured I could replace many parts and come out ahead.

Looking at one....

The Sites dovetail were cut VERY crooked.

IF THAT will get through their 'quality control'

Friends don't let friends carry Tauruses...
