from the pictures I seen. I only recently moved to PNW from midwest. This is all very new to me, new experience in PNW. Seems like Hawaii would have similarity.

it really is amazing and one reason why people just can't leave once they get here or if it is for a vacation why they keep coming back....now add 70 degree ocean water temp, put on a snorkel mask and you are swiming in a tropical fish tank.

I love Hawaii...we go there almost every year...but 'crisp' is NOT one of the words I would use to describe the air...ever!

The weather up at Volcano village on Big Island is similar to summer on the Oregon coast.

Winter time night temps here are well below sixty probably below fifty for a few hours each night for several weeks out of the year. We are only at 1,000 feet elevation, though. The higher up folks get cooler and a lot of them have wood stoves to heat their houses. Higher elevation locations in Hawaii do have cool crisp air, at least in the mornings and at night. It gets warmer during the day and the humidity is almost always there, too. Sometimes at the higher elevations all that humidity turns into lots of fog. Which is not to be confused with vog which is something else entirely.

Oahu doesn't have too many houses at higher elevations since their whole island is pretty low - at least the parts people live on. Maui has some high elevation areas people live in such as Kula, I think. The island of Hawaii has Mountainview up to Volcano and some areas above Kailua as well as Waimea and Ahualoa. So you can find the crisp cool air in certain parts of the state, at least. There are probably places on Kauai and perhaps Molokai and Lanai, too which have enough elevation for cool air.

Yes. I've been there at different times of year and it's surprisingly cool. We went to an art show there in August and it was foggy, windy and about 60 degrees. The people living in the area have heaters or woodstoves, which is almost unheard of in Hawaii. BTW, there was a snow advisory for Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea just last night, June 1.
