Nope, even though some parts of Hawaii get as much or more rain than Portland, generally there's much more sunshine. Although throughout the islands, I think we have all but two of the possible climate zones although some of the climate zones aren't represented in a very large area.

My cousin graduated from Oregon State and I visited him a few times. I can only speak about the times I visited (June and December) but I can tell you that you're definitely not gonna get Eugene's December weather in Hawaii. Last June, when I went up to see him graduate, the weather fluctuated about 20 degrees from day to night so that's another thing you won't see much of in Hawaii; drastic temperature changes. Although during the day when it was 80 with light winds, it did sort of feel like island weather.

Portland gets about 9 dreary months a year of cold wet winter. Might even be more this year!

the weather isn't even close. imagine averaging 76 balmy degrees 24/7 365 days a year. some islands get rain more than others, even when it rains it is still warm.

Sounds good to me. Where can I find that?

Why would anyone think that Oregon weather and the weather of an island near the equator would be the same?

I really just meant in relation to the cool, crispness aspects of it. Fully aware (and very jealous) about the warmer weather in Hawaii. But seems from what I see in pics, that it would be crisp and fresh like it is here. And maybe a lot of greenery...would love to visit.
