Yes, the PNW has gray skies and it rains often most of the year. I grew up in the Midwest, and I'd much rather have the PNW's gray skies and rain than blizzards, ice and subzero temperatures.

Summer does begin in the PNW July 5th, almost on cue.

You won't find the "crispy" air that you have in Ore, you may find it in some spots, e.g., higher elevations of Maui and the Big Island.. but thats about it.
