Husband and I are going to Kauai in early May, and we want to sample some of the music via our car CD player. So we can drive the gorgeous roads with the windows rolled down and have Hawaiian reggae or something playing in the background.
Thoughts on great bands we ought to check out for a laid back Bob Marley feel or even a more traditional feel?
Also, we are late 20's, if that helps you target it!
Thank you!

Aloha i have an extensive hawaii music collection.
One of the alltime best bands from Hawaii was Cecilio and Kapono.
See if this is something you would like?
Thank you for your extensive reply. I really appreciate it! In listening to the different styles, I decided reggae maybe doesn't fit Hawaii the way I thought it would. More Jamaica.... Which is where we went on our honeymoon, so I thought I'd like to bring the Jamaican happy memories along, but it just doesn't feel quite right, if you know what I mean. Hawaii deserves a soundtrack all its own!
Now the guy Israel K. On the list you linked to, I enjoy him, and he's slightly familiar.

Any others with the acoustic ukulele vibe?
Oh traditional music, ya you may like Gabby Pahinui
Also on the Descendents soundtrack, new generation slack key master Jeff Peterson.
I also listen to another new gen slack key player called Makana.
And I like Gabby Pahinui's son Cyril a lot. He's more traditional. Jeff and Makana can play the traditional stuff, but are also pushing the art form into the future.
I've had the good fortune to hang out with all three of these guys, and to play a little guitar with them.
And of course for ukulele, the current star is Jake Shimabukuro.
