My husband & I are planning on coming to Oahu & Maui in September of this year. I booked our hotels and then was told by a friend that September is the rainy month. Locals, please inform me if this is true. We want gorgeous weather and the ability to be outside 24/7. Thank you!!!

September is definitely not rainy season on Oahu... more like Dec - Feb, though we do get passing showers (downpours) just about any time of year. You'll be able to be outside probably almost all of the time. I doubt you will have an entire rainy day in September, though you may have a rainy morning. Or you may be out on a hike and get soaked by a passing shower. But a quick downpour when it's 82 out is really not so bad. I used to *hate* rain when I lived in Boston... way worse than snow because you'd get all wet and cold and then couldn't get warm again. But here, once the rain stops and the sun comes out, you dry right off.
