By those standards i bet the majority of americans are 'bankrupt'.
They probably don't have funds right now to pay for their bills through to 2028.
This is a government program and not personal bankruptcy. It forecasts and takes into account of revenues vs cost. They said the same about Social Security. It takes much longer to react for these big programs.

Actually, Medicare expansion would probably improve its finances as you would be adding younger and healthier people to the program.
Just got off the phone with another family member who bought insurance for this year off healthcare.gov. Doctor's office just told them, btw, did they realize they don't have insurance but a benefit plan that doesn't cover any of the maternity costs? He said they only had 3 plans to pick from, all nearly identical, all showing co-pays and deductibles, he had no idea it wasn't insurance. Not sure how that could happen, but somehow he messed up and now what do they do, no company will cover the pregnancy now.
The plan was not bought off healthcare.gov. Healthcare.gov does not sell noncompliant plans which lack minimum essential coverage. Maternity benefits are considered minimal essential coverage under the ACA.

No. VA is govt owned and operated facilities, with govt employees - and, because of civil service protections, hard to implement accountability. Single payer is not the problem with the VA. The model is the problem.
As opposed to Kaiser and other similar models. Privately owned and operated facilities, with their own employees, which for the most part deliver health care pretty well and more freely because revenues stay in-house and functions with greater patient satisfaction than the VA, because there isaccountability free of civil service protections, etc.
It is quite possible to have single-payer for benefits and private enterprise providers. We have it now in Medicare.

That's a great link - but why didn't they mention that the 2017 plans that may or may not have changed price, did change in benefits (higher deductibles and less coverage)

I have no idea, I try to cite KFF when I can because most people agree that they don't have any particular political bias in health care issues.

Didn't they say that about ACA?
Except that the ACA didn't and couldn't because of the way it was designed. The trick is to have everyone in the same program and not different ones.
The GOP has released their plan to replace the ACA. All the subsidies to the lower income people are gone. The expansion of medicaid is over. Its all about tax credits which I predict will not ultimately appear in a fashion that will benefit the people who need insurance the most.
-A BREAK IN HEALTH COVERAGE MEANS A 30% PENALTY- 30% OF EACH MONTHS PREMIUM RATE. MY GOSH!!!
- Got rid of EMPLOYER TAX CREDITS so many of us might loose our employer sponsored health coverage
-Cannot discriminate against those with health problems. They are insured and pay the same rates
-Can keep kids on parents plan until age 26
-YEARLY REFUNDABLE TAX CREDIT
