I know the last time I had a tooth infection my dentist gave me penicillin which was the first time he gave me that. I read the side effects, one of them said can cause black tongue. I'm not even sure what that meant until I saw your post. What do the side effects says? Maybe call the manufacturer?
You know as well as I that most doctors excise, prescribe.
Sweet, go out and buy a new toothbrush. Soak it in alcohol or peroxide at least once a week. Keep scraping your tongue and flossing. Brush with baking soda every day or so. Rinse with peroxide about once a week until the overgrowth subsides.
Keep up the probiotics. Eliminate the white foods (bread, pasta, mashed potatoes) from your diet. Sugar and grease too. Consider supplementation if you find your diet lacking.
I've suffered two nasty colored tongue episodes within the last two years. At first, I just hoped that they'd go away because I started using a tongue scraper and taking the probiotics. It doesn't work that way.
Get enough sleep, clean up your diet, exercise, A+ oral hygiene.
Thank you I've already been phasing out refined sugars, gluten etc and upping things like more nuts and altho I eat about 70% organic I have also begun take out anything not. I don't eat any fast food whatsoever and haven't in years I did buy a new tooth brush and I've switched to a more organic toothpaste, mouthwash and also I've been swishing with grapefruit seed oil.. No change yet but I know its not an over night thing

This has been going on since September so I don't have the pills anymore
Have you had bloodwork? Any panel to rule out liver cancer?
Yes I went to mayo clinic twice with extensive bloodwork (like 18 vials twice) for everything including things like vitamin defic. , kidney liver thyroid and so on

I know how frustrating it is to have your doctors stumped, especially when they start treating you like you're crazy because they don't know what's going on.
Has ANYONE experienced this. It all started after I had a root canal. I was on two sets of very high antibiotics within 2 weeks first Amoxi, then Cipro. I had the root canal and within 2 weeks I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed for months. Docs couldn't figure it out, still can't but I've had a persistent orange tongue since. I swear it has to be a bacterial overgrowth or fungus from the antibiotics. I have taken probiotics, tried oil pulling, Difluxcan, and tongue scraping. Nothing it always comes back and I dunno what to do anymore! I'm not any weird vitamins, its not anything I'm eating. I even had it cultured and it came back Neg for yeast. Any experience with this from anyone or a clue as to what this is? (the "sores" on my tongue are geographic tongue) I've had those its the orange that is new! sorry for gross pics!
Hi Sweetbottoms! Did you ever find out what your orange tongue was from or how to cure it? My boyfriend got the same thing in the summer (and still has it despite numerous Dr.s appts.) and now I have it as well! So apparently it's contagious. Or environmental. Dunno.
I'm very curious to know if you came to any sort of conclusions! Thx.

Since you are not opposed to natural/holistic treatments, I suggest you visit a holistic or naturopathic practitioner in your area to determine the problem.
Unless you are experiencing a life-threatening infection, it is very ill-advised to take any antibiotic. This is just one problem you can see. Imagine what might be going on in places you cannot see.

If you eat 70 percent organic, why on earth would you have taken antibiotics to begin with? That's just crazy. There are many natural antibiotics out there (echinacea for one)
