From: FDA takes on homeopathic drugs with potential safety risks - CNN the FDA "plans to go after homeopathic remedies that are unsafe for consumers and offer unproven benefits in the treatment of serious illnesses, such as cancer and asthma, the agency announced Monday".
They go on to state: "Many scientific studies have found no evidence that these drugs are effective against cancer, dementia, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and a host of other conditions."
They also state that this is a $3 billion dollar and growing market. Any major changes will face stiff resistance.
It's used worldwide, the U.S. being the least used of homeopathics. I use some and I'm still thinking, talking, sleeping etc etc. This subject has been discussed many times since I've been here and who knows how much before I got to C-D.
Why shouldn't alt med be required to show that its nostrums and treatments are effective and safe?
People will say homeopathy does no harm (it has been shown to be no better than placebo), but if someone chooses homeopathy over a proven treatment, then the lack of beneficial effect does do harm. That would be especially true for cancer.
Also, as greatblueheron pointed out, wasted money is in itself a harm.
The problem is, just like with everything else, the government will go overboard and we will find ourselves unable to buy a simple one a day vitamin without a doctor's prescription.
Start buying up all the "alternative" remedies you can - the dictatorship will not allow any deviations - the drug industry's greed knows no bounds. It's weird that the workers in these industries are cutting off their noses to spite their faces. I assume they all have families - but money is the god to which they pray.

The irony! Nobody dies of cancer, every single cancer patient dies from the toxic medications.

Proven treatments and all the side effects to go with them, and then another drug for the side effects...and vicious cycle with the drugs and some horrible side effects. One put me in the ER many yrs ago so I know that road.
