Yeh, dogs will play, but they will sleep more, much more.

They'll sleep like 14 hours on average.

Almost all species are programmed to play, as practice for adulthood.

My default is couch potato. And this idea about not being hungry when your system is in order doesn't work for me. At. All. I'm an addict, I will eat until my stomach is bursting. Even though I know that I'll feel terrible afterwards. (FYI -- my blood work lands right in the middle of all acceptable ranges).

I loved the comment about "You can't out run your fork". Very similar to my own "weight is lost in the kitchen, muscles are built at the gym".

However, I do agree that 'diets' can be a problem. It's lifestyle, change your lifestyle - eat healthier foods, and less of them (calorie-wise). I slowly replaced all the unhealthy foods in my world with healthier options. But I still have to restrict them. I will gladly eat and entire container of nuts, of 17 servings of fruit, or an entire block of cheese. I binge, always have. Even as a very young child, who was never deprived of food.

I don't love exercise, but I do love the results!

That is not true in general. Almost no one wants to eat so much they feel horrible. Similarly, we don't want to drink alcohol until we throw up. I was not talking about addictions.

What is "obvious" is that the default position for humans is NOT to exercise...

Your contention that humans are "wired" to exercise is false...

It is not obvious, it is not supported by "observation" , it is not supported by research, it is not supported by biological imperative, it is just not supported....period

"A new government study estimates that nearly 80 percent of adult Americans do not get the recommended amounts of exercise each week"

Why do people dance? I have seen, often, little children dance. Why is hard to make kids sit still in school all day?

I have often seen dogs chasing each other joyfully, running as fast as they can. I have seen children do this, often did it when I was a kid.

Why do I, and so many others, love to go out and walk?

People can learn to be lazy.

Why do kids not sit still in class?

Because it's boring, they would rather be doing other things, and we make them go.

Do you have kids?

I have, very often, seen little kids who cannot help dancing when music plays. I am sure you have seen this too. They love to move. So do adults, unless they have been conditioned into physical laziness. Same for many animals. I have seen it, many times, and so have you. Silly argument.

Yes I have seen children and animals play.... and do not agree with your premise.
