I've always enjoyed this hobby, especially with cars and military planes, but was never that great at painting them. Gluing them was a piece of cake but a good paint job is a totally different story.
Well I've seen a few ebay stores that will sell you a fully built and professionally painted model. I've always wanted a nicely built F-14 Tomcat and I think this is my chance. However for $200 (kit and labor) do you guys find this reasonable?
IMO, that's quite a bit for a model, but I can't really talk cause my full Dark Angel army (including Ravenwing and Deathwing stand alones) was quite a bit more than that, lol! Like a min of 20x more than that!

Amazing work, thanks for sharing Harry!
As for me, I play with plastic and scenery as well.
I play Warhammer 40K, and for fun I paint Warhammer Fantasy, Ral Partha, D&D, and LOTR figs as well as do scenery for them all.
Glad I stumbled into this forum and thread - the car models are outstanding, cruz21. I used to build mostly military models as a kid and recently thought about getting back into armor kits, but I love cars and after seeing your photos, I may just well go that route. Do you do a lot of scratch building of accessories and details, or are the kits you choose so detailed?

Thanks! I purchase the regular plastic 1/25 scale kits sold at Michael's or hobby stores, nothing special. A lot of the extra detail you see on my models comes from cottage industries but I also use a lot of craft store findings on them, you just have to be a little creative. Below is a link to one of my projects, there you can see that I even went as far as using hypodermic needles for various things. Of course, you will also see pictures of the real car because I use these as reference to make mine look more correct.
Here's some new pictures of the USS Arizona (1:200 scale) showing where I am now. I just finished putting on all the railings... all she needs is some weathering, rigging and to build the spotter planes/motor launches. This has been one hell of a difficult model; I've never done one so complicated before.
I hear the same company that put out this kit is going to release a 1:200 scale Bismarck in the near future. I can't wait!
They are beautiful. Here is my work in progress. Junker salvaged from the trash. I have it in the refrigerator to break the old glue bond.
