I'm still thinking about it. I'm going for "purdy-ness" more than 101% accuracy; otherwise I would have painted it the god-awful dark bluish grey color that it was on December 7th.
Imagine the work that went into making the molds for this model, or any other model ...
True! This one especially; Trumpeter did an awesome job on it. I've never built a model that had such great fit right out the box, though the waterline seam took quite a bit of sanding to match up. Then again, I probably could have glued it together better too.
I've always enjoyed this hobby, especially with cars and military planes, but was never that great at painting them. Gluing them was a piece of cake but a good paint job is a totally different story.
Well I've seen a few ebay stores that will sell you a fully built and professionally painted model. I've always wanted a nicely built F-14 Tomcat and I think this is my chance. However for $200 (kit and labor) do you guys find this reasonable?
I had a neighbor when I was a kid that work for a paint company. This dude could paint a model. He had almost museum quality models in his basement. Beautiful work.....

Can I ask if you would foward your pics to modelwarships.com to have on their permanent built section? A little narrative too.
Mine is about 17" in length. I can imagine what a 1/200 Arizona requires in terms of assembly and storage.
I am currently working on a 1970 Mustang Mach1, by the middle or end of next week I will be applying the paint to the body and start dealing with the small details such as the chrome trim and small items such as the side mirrors and the like.....
