We have a black granite composit sink too and like it a lot. We do not have granite countertops yet (actually we will probably do soapstone) but when we do we plan to reuse the sink as an undermount. Jay

NC, I wish I'd seen this thread before.
We have quartz countertops that are beige with specs of brown, white and black in them. We have a black granite (matte) undermounted sink that looks terrific with it. We just love it and it always looks terrific.
Our friends just installed polished granite that was most cream with darker colors with a cream granite sink (matte). It looks great. I agree, you need to look at the finishes together.
I think you made the choice. I have light colored granite counters with the black granite sink and LOVE it, but if I had black granite counters, I would go with SS. Post pics when it's done!
Solid surface (Corian, etc.) sinks are nothing like granite sinks - 5 years after you install a granite sink it will look as good as the day you installed it and it doesn't dent like a stainless steal sink or scratch like a stainless steal sink....for the OP stainless was the best choice because she had a shiny black granite.
