I want to try something different- what do you think about white walls and colorful baseboards? I'm going for a beach theme and I know I want to start with white walls but I would like to add a splash of color (marine blue or sea green with some natural tones thrown in). I'm just having trouble picturing what it will look like in the end.

Has anyone tried this (painting the baseboards against a white wall)? How did it turn out? Any pictures to share? Thanks.

Thanks- I wonder if it would be too harsh in reality....Well I can always paint it back to it's original color if I don't like it! LOL.

I think it would look really great, something different. After all, ANYONE can paint white baseboards, after all, haha. I would need to be the right blue or green, maybe a cottage blue or a sagey green??? I say go for it you can always repaint...

Thats true! I could have decided to paint the entire wall but I thought this approach was safer! And its different so I'm excited to see how it'll turn out. *Sigh* now to find the perfect color.....

In one room, I did the walls white and am in the process of doing the baseboards in "Frosted Juniper." Its subdued and soothing and looks fine.

Painted trim and white/cream walls is a classic look.

If you're going for a beach theme, how about light sand-colored paint on the walls?

We have a sort of dusty French blue trim in our 1930's house, but the walls aren't white. Though we've considered making them so.

i am thinking about doing the same thing but with a hot pink color that matches my conferter. My colors are pink white and black, and i already know that the black is going to be for my shelvs and other wall decorations. I guess what i am trying to ask is that if 4 walls of pink is to much? All i kow is that i can do anything i want with my room so if you have any ideas for me, or just a picture e-mail me at carolinewales@rocketmail.com

Ive seen this done and it looks very fresh BUT the rooms I have seen had the really wide molding. Years ago I painted my molding and baseboards other than white. I was pretty happy with it for a few years. I love to change things and experiment so I say go for it. The only thing you will loose is some cash on paint if you end up hating it. Post pics when your done!
