And remind Dad, if he will listen, that walking around on a roof is the best way to start/spread leaks.

If it was my patio roof i would first try to stop the leaks with a good all weather roof patch. Above the leaks, If you see some cracks in the asphalt roofing, exposed/deteriorated nail heads, or staples.....spread some of the roof patch over these spots with a putty knife or trowel.

See if that solves your problem. Let us know the results.
