Lately I have been hearing a lot about these mattresses that they ship to you in a box. Casper is one, there are many.
Most of them are memory foam or memory foam hybrids.
Has anybody bought one of these (or a similar brand), and if so, what do you think about it.
They are fantastic. I bought one for my son when he moved off-campus at college. My neighbor did the same. My gf at work did the same. And in the last year, about 5 people I know have told me they replaced their old mattresses with one of them. For the college crowd, these are what most folks I know are using. Inexpensive, and very comfy (yes I have slept on one).
I've been sleeping on a Tuft & Needle unit for 2 years. So much better than the much more expensive spring mattress it replaced (which was maybe slightly better than every other spring mattress I've slept on).
The short of it is that I will *NEVER* go back to a spring mattress. It took about 5~6 weeks to really get comfortable on the foam, but very much worth it.
When we wanted to upgrade from queen to king we had to buy one. We live in an old house with a narrow stairway that turns. There was no way we could get a king size up those stairs. I very reluctantly agreed to a Tuft and Needle mattress in a box. Much to my surprise I love it. It did take a few weeks to totally break in but I thought it very comfortable from the get go.

We bought a Zinus bed in a box last year and love it. Far more comfortable than the spring mattress that it replaced.
