No, that would be very quietly and informally done, but an example that is easier to connect to government policy is in food. Chickens and cows are fed synthetic hormones to increase egg and milk production, with less nutrition per egg and unit of milk. Food is counted in inflation stats, which departments such as Social Security use to set their benefit amounts.
The only question I have is ... why would a kitchen designer put a refrigerator right next to wall ovens? I've seen that design a hundred times and it always makes me go like this: ! (Yes, I know they say there's a heat barrier in between, but it still seems like such a nutty design!)
i guess there is a logical issue there perhaps. i dont really know. we dont use the ovens much anyway.
An engineer told me refrigerators are purposely made not to last , if they lasted forever imagine how many people and businesses would be out of business .
Stealth inflation is manufacturers making cheaper products with the same product names to avoid or reduce price increases. Governments may push them to do this to reduce their own inflation costs.
Plastic shelves may be designed for the amount of stuff shown in ads, where everything is visible and organized, not a fully loaded use of every cubic foot. Simply replacing plastic shelves with wire shelves could be a DIY solution.
We thought of that..but then there's the cracked meat drawer and the cracked vegetable crispers...
My handy spouse is looking for some sheet fiberglass and he's going to attempt to repair al the cracks and fractures with that and epoxy for plastic...we'll see how that goes.
Worth the effort--and much less $$ than a new frig...

All stuff is made to break jake. This is not the 60's anymore dorthy. Plenty stayed in biss thru the 1950's to the 90's.
For the record, I do not know a single person who has bought a Samsung refrigerator and NOT had problems with it. There are actually several class action lawsuits involving them. I'd definitely avoid.
It is a counter depth professional series - the kind with two doors - forget what they are called
Well the fridge side door has shelves that you are supposed to be able to remove for cleaning. One I cannot take off and yes, another one an small piece broke off.
So now I just clean them without taking them off.
We do have a second plain white fridge - that thing is pretty heavy duty. Also has removable shelves on the door and they are pretty sturdy.
