Ha. So true. I've seen house listings with signs or stenciled words in nearly every room in the house. Do you really need "Cafe" in the kitchen, "Laundry" in the laundry room, "Family" in the family room, "Sweet Dreams" in the bedroom, "La Toilette" in the bathroom....??? It gets silly.
Large homes on large lots don't bother me. Large homes on small lots bother me a lot.
I was just going to post this. Oversized homes on regular lots, homes that push the limits of the lot just for the sake of a trend in McMansions, is worse than a large house on a proportionately-appropriate lot.
I really can't stand the white/light grey kitchen trend going around now. Blaaaahhhhh. Hate white/light colors. It was awesome when the dark brown/warm color thing was a trend. I loved it all along so it was cool when all the homes seemed to be that way.
I don't like the open floor concept thing either. I like my walls--more places to hang pictures!

That seems pretty normal. I know I got a lot of comments when I was selling my home that it was too dark. But, that's just what I like. The place I have now though--plenty of windows! It's a small little home though so I don't have 62 (! : ). I want to say at about 15--and for like maybe a 1000 sqft home--that's quite a lot! (I'm probably going to count them soon : ) But I'm planning to turn the interior into that dark, warm color that I like.

In the west, a shade tree can be a fire hazard. Sometimes you'll get a reminder from local fire departments that your shade tree violates fire codes and you have to mitigate the risk - ensure a minimum number of feet between the house & the tip of any branch, ensure no branch is within X feet of the ground or within X feet of another tree, etc.
What nonsense those type of HOA restrictions are... I live in a rural township with a minimal HOA regarding anything related to exterior requirements or landscaping.
I have one large white pine that I’m going to trim back from the roof, but it reduces my energy bill so I barely run the AC in the summer at around 900 ft. elevation just north of the Ohio River.
White/Gray/Stainless kitchens/surgical suites
Clean lines (versus dirty curves and angles?)
Bright overhead ceiling lights
Massive sectional sofas
Subway Tile
Ship lap and barn doors galore
"Overgrown" shrubs torn out and replaced with specimen sizes
While white presents an environment beautifully, I dislike a white monotone color scheme throughout a house: white walls, furniture, cabinets, countertops etc. Not only is white on all furniture pieces impractical if one actually uses that furniture daily, a lack of color (other than white) in a home is devoid of character and interest. It is sterile. Hopefully interior design is moving to more liveable trends in 2022.

A large house on a small lot is not a "McMansion."
