New front porch is almost done (waiting for Lowe's) but now my white front door looks bland. House is white with a blue roof, porch is white, door is currently white. yawn
I'm kind of thinking along the lines of lime green.
Now, not that I fear that the Philistines will be stopping by for a visit but rather it just fits with my self image of the mistress of the hacienda. Did it, the mistress, work out that way? Well, house wise (fashion wise, yes, but that's something else), not yet but that is more that the view from the back porch is grander........but it might someday, when I receive guests at my front door. Right now, the front door fits another type of classic story and since that kind of statement is bound to produce questions.......
....................think of the official gate for a lesser used pass blocked by that door as when Prince Arn was traveling with Sir Gawain in the mountains. That is, porch with support stanchions, kitchen window, cast iron door and windows, Guardian Elephants (elephant planters), door mats......and not much else. Right now, the front door is not the main way into my home.
Ours is whatever color my wife painted it recently. She repaints the door with the seasons. It's been white, blue, green, brown, yellow, and other colors.

Just curious: what color is your front door?
It's stained dark walnut. It's a fiberglass door, so stain doesn't penetrate but, with care, stain is OK. I have a dual-pane storm door that protects it from the weather. It would be a shame to cover up the beautiful simulated wood grain with paint.
One of my parents' homes had black double front doors. Doorway faced S/SW. They always seemed to need repainting due to damage from sun/heat. More trouble that it was worth IMHO.
Black can be problematic....especially if you have a storm door and the entrance gets a lot of sun exposure. I have seen metal doors get so hot that they would remove your fingerprints!!!
