Ours is red because somebody painted it that years ago hoping it would make it 'inviting'. I don't hate it enough to have changed it right away, but it's on my list. I see nothing at all wrong with a white door.
Update to say I'll be replacing that door next weekend (due to damage)... and my better half has said I shall paint it a medium sage green.
