well if you are going by raw numbers then I agree. Its just that when people say fastest growing I think of percentages.

you will be surprised. The growth that I have seen along I10 in the 10 years that I have been in Houston makes imagining the next 50 totally impossible.

But anyway, I didn't say Houston will connect along I10 and I45 soon. If you read back you will see those are the ones that I can't forsee.

What I said is the one I can see in the next 100 years is the 290 route.

I can definitely see future growth between Waller, Grimes and Brazos along with nearby Washington and Montgomery

The 290 corridor out towards Waller County is ripe with potential. Look how quick the Cypress area exploded when they upgraded 290 to freeway status about 10-12 years ago. Development will push past Hockley, Waller, Prairie View, and straight into Hempstead. It has already started along the freeway. Fairfield has benefitted greatly from the freeway. That corridor will grow rapidly over the next decade.

That is what I have been telling Scarface.

and once you get to Hempstead you are only 20 miles away from Navasota and then 15 miles from College Station.

going west Chapel Hill is only 10 miles from Hempstead and then Brenham is like 8 miles away from that

I doubt I'll be surprised. I lived along the I-10 corridor for the majority of my life. Things have changed, yes, but even now, the development barely goes past Katy Mills Mall. Can't forget the Katy Prairie and the environmentalist out there trying to halt the developers. Plus, TxDot isn't building feeders on that section of I-10.

Look, I went to Prairie View last year, right in the middle of the area you're talking about. We did a lot of traveling and let me tell you, there is still pretty much nothing after the Outlet Mall. Fairfield has been there forever it seems and has been stagnant in growth (it's so far away). Hockley is a trailer park, Waller has a few apartments, Prairie View has a few apartments (mostly lived in by students), and there is nothing new in Hempstead. I think it'll grow over the next decade, too, but not as fast as you guys are saying.

Like I said, I went to Prairie View and we had many, many trips to College Station on Thursday and Friday nights. The vast majority of the trip is empty. You say "only 20 miles" away from Navasota like that's close. It's pretty far away in Houston, let alone the country/small towns where things seem further away. From all of our trips last year, the only new development I remember seeing was the southern side of College Station (so, nothing from Prairie View until the southern side of Navasota).

The NW Corridor will grow, but it'll be a LONG time until it even reaches Prairie View, let alone Hempstead. Once the Grand Parkway comes in, growth will start concentrating along it, instead of 290, in my opinion. For one, the GP is closer into the metro area. Second, it gives commuters the option to use two different freeways (I-10 and 290). Also, developers have already planned so many new master-planned communities proposed along it. I haven't seen any for 290, but if someone has a map, then I'd like to see it.

Yes, a long time, that is what a hundred years is, a long time. the area grew by more than 5 million in the last 100 years. Heck it grew by 4million in the last 50 years

Of course, but not all of that growth was concentrated along one corridor. You have to remember other sides of the Houston area are starting to come up...mainly the NE side once Earth Quest is built. I believe some areas will see a slow down in growth, as other sides start growing more.

-jobs- Harris no doubt.
-growth- Fort Bend
-future growth-Imma go with Waller
-shopping- Harris, then probably Montgomery then Fort Bend
-affordability- hard to judge
-schools-just as hard to gauge
-diversity- Fort Bend and Harris
-

entertainment
- Galveston County has Kemah, Moody Gardens Shlitterbahn and of course all the other Galveston attractions.

-Montgomery County has fun lakes, The Cynthia W.M. Pavilion, etc

- Harris County has..... well it has Houston and all its goodies.

So I Guess
Fort Bend for Growth, affordability and Diversity
Harris for jobs, Shopping, diversity and entertainment
Galveston County for entertainment and affordability

Brazoria County is another one to watch. Pearland is becoming a beast.

Lots of new restaurants, lots of new shopping areas, the school sports there have been doing really well. Plus to go from a sleepy suburb of 40K to a city the size of Greenbay Wisconsin, Boulder Colorado, Berkeley California or Witchita Falls TX in 10 years is phenomenal
