Oh, but that's different? How so?
Do you eat in a restaurant? Feeding an infant using breasts is no different. A feeding infant, btw, covers most of the breast. Many mothers also do use a blanket with a young infant though not all do.

It is in no way comparable to urinating. (Of course, men actual do urinate in public especially if they are drunk, but that is not protected as a right).

As a woman, I'm probably in the minority with my view but I agree that they should go breastfeed in private, particularly when at a store. Woman used to breast feed discreetly but now they often just flop out their saggy, chapped breast and feed with zero modesty. I don't care to see them breastfeeding just like I don't want to see someone eating a burger and drinking a big gulp in the lingerie dept. Breastfeed in public - yeah it is fine if done discreetly. The original Target complainant said that she was being "stared" at ... well duh, that is going to happen. Anything you do in public is subject to being stared at.

Just wanted to point out that the woman that started this at the target WAS COVERED by a blanket. She was not flopping her breast out for everyone to see.

Understand that in addition to the money issue with pumping, some babies that are given a bottle will refuse to nurse from the breast, so it is perfectly understandable why some parents don't want to go that route. Had my wife not needed to go back to work, she probably would not have pumped.

I'll be honest, I have a hard time understanding why people have an issue with it. Of the countless times I've come across a nursing mom, I've never given it a 2nd thought, it juts doesn't even register with me.

It may not bother you but apparently it bothers a lot of other people. There are a lot of things I have a right to do out in public but I don't do it if I know it will make other people uncomfortable. That's just my way of being respectful to those around me.

What we're really discussing (arguing) about has nothing really to do with the law, or what's done in other countries, etc. What we're talking about is the same thing that determines how people vote.

Values.

Rather or not someone is offended or approves of breastfeeding in public is entirely and totally determined by their values. And as this country turns more and more away from God, this kind of thing will happen more and more.

My goodness, look at San Francisco, a city completely lost to Christianity. There public nudity is allowed. The only restriction they face is having to use a towel when they sit down in a restaurant!

I don't think too many who approve of breastfeeding in public are evangelicals.

Modesty. Values. Purity. And everyone has to take a side.

That's what we're really talking about.

I've seen a Houston Mom nursing in public about ZERO times in the last few decades.

Note: I go out alot, usually several times a day, I also have little ones and see babies in public daily & have never had this issue come up in Houston.

This sounds like a media hype thing mostly.

Actually, that is probably because the moms are discreet in general. I nursed in public when mine were little (back in the early 70s) and no one would notice at all because they were covered enough. People mostly thought the baby was sleeping.

I get it...Breastfeeding is a "natural, beautiful act"...blah, blah, blah.

So is childbirth.

Cover up, ladies, or do it in private!
So having a womans pelvis stretched out and expelling baby and all while she screams to high heaven is the same as Child birth? Man you are sheltered. It is natural and normal like breathing.....should be allowed everywhere.
