Hi everyone. I need your help, I was born in Houston and raised in Conroe. I have been in the US Marine Corps for the last eight years and am finally coming home to the greatest place in the world, TEXAS!!!! I have noticed that the Houston area has changed so much since I have left. I have four kids and my wife and I are looking for a great neighborhood to raise our family. We are looking for 4 bedrooms in the $120k range. At the same time we want to be in a predominately white neighborhood with great schools and not to far away from the greater Houston area. We have looked in Kingwood, Spring and Katy. Most homes are way out of our price range so any suggestions on cities around Houston that may be what we are looking for. Thank you all so much for your help.

From a former 0352, welcome home brother.

The question about where to live shows up here about once a week, and the best first answer has already been given. Do you have a job lined up?

Because Houston is so freaking big, and the traffic can suck so much, where you work needs to be a major factor in deciding where to live. If I had to drive in rush hour traffic between the Medical Center and the Woodlands every day, I know there would be a strong temptation to just drive off into a bayou somewhere to make the pain go away.

I'm not sure if there is a place that's predominantly white at $120k with great schools. Try contacting a RE agent to assist you.

This might seem like a dumb question ..... why don't you look in Conroe?

And for the people that want to live in a predominantly white community
seems like the only places you are going to find that is the rich neighborhoods.
So I recommend you checking The Woodlands.

Maybe central Richmond or Rosenberg, but the Pecan Grove area is one of the most white in all of Fort Bend.

Anyway, I agree with the others - Live as near the job as possible. With that housing budget and his wants, it will have to be pretty far out from town.
