Didn't they move to metered parking on the seawall this year - that will cut back on how long those space can be tied up. Yeah, people will let the meter expire but you can be sure the city will be out ticketing those - that is revenue for them and the city needs it.

See I thought that too. For the past year I've been going down there I have been expecting to see them up but haven't yet. I called the city the other day to see what was going on and was told that the first proposal was rejected by council. I was then told that they will not be up this summer but when they do go up they will be lined from 14th thru 61st street. I believe this will address some of the problem but as far as this summer goes beach goers are SOL.

Although I didn't go into pleasure pier, the seawall was stupid packed on Sunday. Can't wait for all the rides to open then I will venture into the pier.

Fertitta is trying to make as much money as he can before the next hurricane blows Pleasure Pier into the ocean.

It doesn't seem like it should be that hard to create additional parking with a shuttle running to the pier. Most of Galveston away from the seawall is pretty rundown so I can't imagine land prices are very high off the water.

Not sure why people are surprised Galveston was packed in Memorial Day weekend.

I think all of the hotels are going to have to start providing a service of their own to entice people to stay at their hotel.

I thought that the 35-foot metro type buses the city started this weekend that were supposed to get people to the pier and Moody would work. They were supposed to operate only on the weekend but I just talked to the lady at Island Transit and she told me it went horrible over the weekend and they would not be using the buses again. She wouldn't elaborate on what happened.

I went out there this weekend...started off at the Wharf and it was lovely how easy was it to drive over there

Went to the Pier after, went down broadway to 25th and parked off seawall....got out and crossed the street by fishtales (the cops are earning their money for traffic control) and went to the pier.

Paid my admission fee to the pier and noticed though they need to secure the gift shop as you can sneak in the pier through there once people figure it out. Once I got on the pier, it's too tight for me and it gets harder to walk once you pass the concession areas.

I only noticed 1 bathroom and 1/2 concession stands which serve horrible funnel cakes...lol...outside of that, it's nothing but a stationary carnival we see at the HSLR
