I disagree, when people post I would be out of hear so fast your head would spend, or I you would see a dust cloud under my feet. I doubt you can call that in the middle ground. Also remember just because you posted a criticism in this thread doesn't mean I am responding to you
Sorry, I should have written "most" instead of "everyone."

OK I tell you what. I'm going to take some deep breaths, and go for a run in my shorts here in late December, and when I get back we will see if I have a different perspective of this thread !

I got into this tiff with someone who told me that "LA is old news, and that Houston is where it's at." I didn't even bother with a response after that.

I know people take pride in their cities and that's cool, but some people are delusional about Houston, I've found. I've been there and it's almost overwhelming how some natives are so, idk, "fierce" about Houston. It's like they're quick to defend it before anyone even says anything. (Not that I would insult anyone from there, just saying.)

I was warned of this before I even flew in there and quickly noticed it.

If everyone in Houston was wealthy, they would ditch this city and go to NYC lol.

The answer to this question will always be subjective...how comfortable do you feel in the city?
I lived in Houston for over 8 years and never felt comfortable... Had a great job and network of friends, but then, I was robbed at gunpoint and thereafter was acutely aware of the crime all around, traffic, nasty people. Its relative...if I'd not been robbed, I might have been more tolerant of heat, traffic, humidity. Instead, I concentrated on these, plus terrible house construction/ soils, snobbery over neighborhoods/ school zones, essentially, stresses that don't matter. Houston is probably great for many, but not for me. Living a happier life in Colorado!

I just never remembered Houston as being so dangerous and rude growing up but coming back I can see what you mean. I used to remember a very friendly city but not much anymore.

I went into town the other day and was a bit more alert about my surroundings than usual. I also felt as though the place wasn't as friendly either.

I would have a nice 2500 to 3000 sqft home in Meyerland on a 15k sqft lot and a 2nd older historic 3000 to 3500 sqft home in Galveston

I prefer Tanglewood to Meyerland or River Oaks.

I find houston to be a great world class city as far as things to do, food, and having something for everyone except outdoor enthusiasts really...but for my preferences, id put it up against any of the other cities ive been to, outside of NYC.
