Yup. It is extremely difficult. This was a current I had to swim up against for years.

The very vast majority of people working in retail/restaurants in Fulshear don't live anywhere near it.

It is HARD to retain good people because they can't spend that much money on gas, etc, to try and commute down here when they often live where more jobs are easier to come by anyway- like Rich/Rose or even up toward Houston proper. And wages are, well, they're service industry wages. I sure wouldn't want to make that commute knowing what service people get paid, lol.

I was in a similar situation as your daughter at my old job- 60-70 hour workweeks, still couldn't move out because it was too expensive.
Even multifamily around areas close to Fulshear (IE- Cinco, etc) are still expensive- and it got worse after Harvey for a while there.

They are building apartments in Cross Creek now but I bet they'll be expensive.

So much growth but so little people. Katy, West Oaks area and Grand Parkway businesses are all competing for the same folks but they have established areas and houston nearby.

Ain’t no one from Houston (common folk) heard of Fulshear in regards to moving that way and there’s no large area to the west to pull from. You gotta hope the areas around the grand parkway explode with growth and then they’ll move to get away.

It’s going to be hard.

~$1,200/mo. for a one bedroom (link below). They're more for folks looking for a short lease before they move into their house in CCR/Cinco NW or SW.

Won't stop the CCR social media pages from freaking out about 'apartment people' ruining their schools, pools, etc.

the crazy part is that the developers are the ones who create these apartment communities to spur growth.
