My husband and I live in Katy and were able to take a trip to Boston last October. Beautiful! I would move there tomorrow if I could. I hate the weather here. It's true that everyone stays inside in the AC here, but not there. It was in the 60's and everyone was out, walking the city. I am currently trying to convince my husband that a move is in order. Maybe someday...

Tell that to the people at the icehouse down the block enjoying beer and burgers on the patio as I type. Y'all need to get out more. You're not going to see anything or anyone but the four walls as long as you stay at home.

Gold Dust, the city is what you make of it, not what it does to you. I left for 9 years to work in Saudi Arabia thinking I would not return here. I did return and found The Woodlands, now I live one day at a time in paradise. Someone once told, this is not a hometown. Everyone just drives up to their garage, pushes a button and disappears until the next day. I asked, did you invite the person to your home or coordinate a block party? Did you welcome yourself by throwing yourself a party and inviting all the neighbors? Isn't it funny that we expect others to do what we can do? Then we blame their behaviors on the place? Nope, the best people in the world live right here. Get out and meet them.

Default Boston

I went to Boston to take my kid to Harvard for an interview last month and encountered the worst traffic mess that I have ever come accross in 49 years of life. Getting around that city sucks!Cops at every intersection and road construction on every block of the darn place. It took 2 hours to go 5 miles.Cape is very nice but 500,000 for a 1400 SF shack built in 1900, no thanks .I can afford to live anywhere I want but Boston is not what you Bostonians think it is.Now I see why the young people leave the east coast and move to Houston. Only the old gezzers and the rich can afford to live there and have a family. One last cut to the cape the hotel we stayed in was 200 years old and looked it.We had bed bugs and left in the middle of the night, chewed to to the point of insanity, and this place was 180 dollars a night. You need to get some chain hotels ,maybe a circa 1960 Holiday Inn.Give me my 6,500 sf home on six acres with pool ,hottub and waterfall in Houston pals any day of the week.

I know, I know. To be honest, we've made more friends here in 3 months than we made in 10 years back in NY. I hate to admit it!! I just miss "home", as I knew it for so long, that's all. I truly appreciate your post!

Half my family still lives in the Boston suburbs. They can have it. What good is the beach when it's too cold most of the year? And we have a house on the Cape our family has had forever, we rarely use it, just rent it out. We lose money because people would rather rent in the warm places... should have gone with Galveston instead!

And I don't have 800k for a family house up there... does that mean I'm poor? No, it means I'd rather get more in Houston for $300k, and better weather and more jobs to top it off.
