3rd ward by MacGregor Park has some nice homes but alot them are owned by politicians or folks who inherited money a long time ago and passed them down....but those homes needs work

There are just areas where we all move to but it was not developed for us and by us
In it's earlier days, development in Acres Homes was heavily targeted towards African Americans, and it once used to be one of the largest black "settlements" in the south.

I know of no such neighborhood that was designed specifically for blacks. Atlanta has large, almost solidly black middle class neighborhoods, but this is largely due to de facto segregation.

Ever since I moved to Houston I learned to somehow mention that within the first few hours of meeting people here in Houston since many whites here seem VERY comfortable using the N-word when they don't think any black people are around. Wow really? -- not sure what kind of work you do but honestly, the only people I hear using that word in my circle are hip-hop artists on tv or radio. I work in a professional environment and I have never heard any of my co-workers use that word so perhaps it is the people I am exposed to on a day-to-day basis. None of my off the job friends use that term either.

That doesn't suck. If anything it proves that Houston is ahead of the curve when it comes to integration. Predominantly black communities of any income level are a thing of the past. We're a city of the 21st century.

In Houston, it's very easy to stay connected and be near other affluent blacks, but it just isn't necessary for all or even a chunk of us to be in one neighborhood.

I think you're full of crap & want to stir up stinky poo. The N word has never landed in my ears during my many decades in this 97% white Houston neighborhood. We don't even talk about other races.

I've heard it from black teens roaming the malls, they shout the N word at each other. Without a doubt their great-grandparents would smack the living *@#&# out of them if they were alive to hear what their flesh & blood was saying.

You started a thread about being irritated because you saw Rednecks on their front porch near your new home. Now, according to you, Houstonians use the N word casually all over town......at home.....at work, right.
