Guys, please DO NOT WASTE your money on Westin. There is a beast in town which make much better homes with energy start rating as well as beautiful architecture. The best is called TAYLOR MORRISON.

IDK, I've heard they do good work, but in some of the neighborhoods I've toured with them I just didn't like their floor plans. They seem to be a little less open air than others, but I guess having more rooms within the same amount of square footage as another house with less rooms is attractive to some people.

So does Trendmaker, Newmark, and Village Builders....... TM isn't all that.
in some prices ranges you can even get partners in building or toll brothers/

a_guerrajr, I am looking to buy with Westin in Fall Creek. There are no lots available right now for the plan I chose (Preston). They are starting a new section soon and the developer has not released the new lots yet. I've been told that they will not start building until June. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about it starting sooner. Also, I was wondering if anyone have the Preston and what their experience was like at the design center. This is my 3rd home but the first that I am having built from the ground up.... all comments are welcomed.

firsthomebuilder, I've been in Houston for 9 years and have seen MANY model homes over the years. Westin is by far the best that I have seen. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice builders out there but none of them have the wow factor that Westin has. Their homes give you the custom feel without the custom price.....

When i bought it was still outsourced to the 3rd party showroom off Beltway 8.
They supposedly brought it in-house and have their own show room now. There's a few people on here that bought recently, hopefully they see this post and can comment on that experience.

I personally didn't like the Preston's size distribution. media rooms seem to tiny

I wrote about my design center experience here:
//www.city-data.com/forum/houst...gn-center.html

I've got a Preston, and I love it. The media room does seem a little small like a_guerrajr said, but I haven't gotten to setting mine up yet either. The coat closet being located outside the master bedroom instead of near one of the entrances seems oddly placed to me, but thankfully I don't need a coat that often.

A few things to add though. In the master bathroom, the main light switch is located on the wall near the master bedroom, while the shower/secondary light switch is located on the wall near the master closet. Also, the light switch for the closet is located on the same panel as the shower/secondary light switch. There's not one in the closet itself. All this is mildly annoying to me, and if I had known, I would have paid a bit extra to get extra switches to control the lighting.

I did the upgrade in the master bathroom to get the block glass window, rather than the plain glass window. Otherwise, I'd have to cover that window with blinds or curtains (then what's the point of having a window in the bathroom if you have to cover it?) I think it was worth it though.

I didn't upgrade the study to have French doors. Kind of regret that.
