Dallas has spent more money on making the city more appealing.
I'd like to know what you think of the first picture on post 408 that Stoneclaw took.

Amazing pics. Houston had improved so much, there's no denying it. One caveat on posting pics and harping on its improvement is that more people might want to move, LOL.

Let's keep the perception up that it's just a bigger version of Tucson. I wouldn't want Houston to become one of those overly congested, high priced, super rat race "worldly cities" in the next few decades.

You act like Houston is the only city that has to balance this. Its not. Many cities do this and they do it well. Not to mention Houston is not doing it that well if the traffic is so bad.

Dallas has at least improved and improving its light rail much faster and more efficiently.

Dallas is doing it better, that much I agree but there aren't that many cities beating Texas cities as far as the amenities provided, jobs, low COL and limited regulations.

Ive seen those views of Houston a thousand times,Absolutely nothing special about "wild creek" and green cut grass.

Someone said it earlier and I agree.Houston does not do(enough) major streetcaping and landscaping. Its a bland city overall.Sure it has nice parts like all cities but the nice parts pale in comparison to the nice parts of many cities.

Well then this just all boils down to subjective tastes, biases and preferences. I prolly wouldn't have used the words visually stunning but I stick with nice looking. For one I think the woodlands is a marvel of planning engineering but others might think it's bland cookie cutter.

I know this going to start a war but while I agree Texas cities do well in COL,they do not stand out in amenities.
Atlanta has a subway and streetcar. massive urban renewal projects like the BeltLine, anumber of great parks

Charlotte while much smaller has a new streetcar as well and has managed to make a really beautiful city.My only gripe is that it still lacks urbanity.

Chicago has everything Houston has plus much that it does not and its a cheap city for its size.

That's just some of the cities that offer equal or more than Texas cities for the COL

Yes but thats what the thread is about, Most people agree Sara Sampaio is a beautiful woman but that small percentage who will say otherwise.

I never said it was bad looking. It was nice but nice is everywhere. Thats the bear minimum.

That's a stretch. Dallas (city) has no shortage of red tape. Also, some people don't want to drive 25-40 miles to see a football, baseball, and/or soccer game.

I don't want to knock southern cities down because they're doing well too but ATL and Charlotte seem smaller and offer a bit less in terms of amenities. I'm sure they're great cities though and Chicago is world class, it's up there with nyc and LA. Houston is burgeoning. Overall I agree that Chicago is the last achievable affordable world class city.
