Friends of ours who lived there recently said the majority of the population speak only spanish and have no interest in anybody that does not!

With friends like that, who needs enemas?

Karuna95 i find your post rather rude! Can i please just get this straight right now! As i have said in my original post i have NO problem with diversity or different beliefs WHATSOEVER!! We are a interracial family i'm black my husband is white! Yes we live in oregon and believe or not oregon is diverse also, maybe not as diverse as houston but it's still diverse!

FWIW, I didn't find Karuna's post to be rude but rather more informative in terms of how people interpret statistics vs what actually is based on the stats you supplied in previous posts.

Just curious - have your concerns been allayed by the responses that Houston is as American as Portland? It is a very diverse city and you should have no problem fitting in.

It's as safe here as any. They do speak a lot of Spanish here, there are a lot of Hispanics here. If you're coming from up North, you will notice a difference as I did. No, it's not like Mexico city although I do occasionally get a whiff of something in the water....There's tons of people here that don't know & don't care to learn spanish & get along just fine. Come on down, the weather's great, jobs are good and there's plenty of room.
