Bass Pro Shops demand hefty incentives from participating cities to close a deal. In Birmingham, the package for the new store there amounted to more than 26 million dollars by the time the deal was done. Hope Decatur does its homework and can afford the long term ramifications.

Hopefully it is one of their bigger model stores. The smaller ones aren't that impressive.

Bass Pro Shops often have a very big undeveloped lot. It isn't unusual to drive down a quarter or half mile drive to get to one of their free standing stores.

I could see driving 1/2 mile and STILL be a huge store....in this lot....

26M for a Bass Pro shop seems a bit high. I can't imagine that the added tax revenue and employment will amount to that in a reasonable time.

This is interesting, especially since there have been rumors we are getting a Cabela's store off Zierdt Rd.

Especially when you realize they were dealing with Leeds and Moody. Their combined city revenues don't play in that league. The rounded number always includes store performance and infrastructure that the government should be paying for anyway. Stores don't build streets and bridges.

Urban myths are like that. Some have said Macy's wanted thirty million to open in Huntsville.
Another example of how people s t r e t c h things on the internet.
