3. Avoid certain words like $hit, f**k, $uck, dam*, etc., and definitely do not connect aforementioned words with the Lord!

4. Going to church around here is a must. It is not "Do you go to church?" but "which church do you go to?" Beware of inter-denomination rivalry. Going to a wrong church can get out outcasted by your social circle quicker than say "I am a liberal Democrat", or "I really like Obama"

5. Fashion takes on a differdnt standard here. My female coworkers carry a $10 purse bought from Walmart So relax and leave your LV handbag at home and "when in Rome.... do as the Romans do"

I am sure there is more so others can chime in. Overall our move here is positive. People are nice, polite, low-crime and the cost of living is low. People freak out with an extra 1% sales tax increase and a lower price builder moves in & start to build less expensive homes in their subdivision But by and large they focus on where had the best pizza and donuts around town.

Good luck in your decision to move here.

everythign he said here is pretty much wrong. You don't have to go to church and there are plenty of leftwingers in Huntsville who love high taxes and Obama.

I never understood this thing about how you have to slow down in the south. Most of the time you wil being moving faster because traffic isn't as bad as up north or Cali, etc. It isn't like peole in the south don't live busy lives.

Pretty sure most women in Alabama don't just wear stuff from Walmart, and I'm pretty sure we eat more than pizza and donughts. He obviously thinks he superior to people in Alabma for some reason. It is like he googled dumb stereotypes about the South and cut and pasted them all on here for this woman's convenience. lol

Well said, RunDMC. Spot on. I had friends visit from out west last year and they were shocked we were living in the modern world like everyone else. One guy seriously wanted to know if there were any plantations close by. Simply pathetic.

lol well to be fair, some nice cities in the south like Charleston have some historic plantations that are tourist attractions. People from up north are more excited about thsoe than people who live in SC though.

Everything??? Even item #3?

Maybe you just don't like it when I point out the obvious?

Yes and there are gays in Huntsville too. Isn't diversity & inclusion wonderful?

Personally I would hate a place if everyone look, walk, and "tawk" alike. So please don't take my sentence above out of context.

Well, how long did it take you to read up to this point?

Just kidding!!! Please don't be so sensitive, geeze....

I am sorry, please allow me to correct myself.....

Most men too wear their clothes from Walmart.

In some cities around here, Walmart may be the only viable shopping solution.

OK I get it... You resent the fact that I may be projecting some cultural stereotype thus stirred up some deep rooted anger because you are an unique individual and what you have to say is important!

I promise that I will be more sensitive to other people's feelings. Next time, I will type slower.... No, really I will

Hampton Cove has several blue ribbon schools and they consistently rank in the top for our state. The schools are excellent.

The food options are greater than what one person said was just Taco Bell & Hardee's (that made me chuckle). There are also family-owned places like the Mexican cantinas, Beunavista & El Omeca, Tortora's (Italian restaurant), Big Cove BBQ, two oriental places (1 small & the other a massive buffet), several franchised pizza places, McD's, KFC, Sonic, Arby's, Subway (2 of them), and now Chick-fil-a. Just a short drive over the mountain and your options expand even more.

Having lived in this area with our children since 2001 there's no other place we'd rather be. HC has great communities, continued growth, beautiful natural outdoor areas with trails & lakes, awesome schools, easy access to doctors, vets, entertainment, and a very low crime rate.

And a drive over the mountain gets you in Jones Valley which has a good movie theater, Target, Micheael's, Dick's, basically, lots of shopping.

HC, however, does only have one apartment complex. So when you rent first, which you should until you learn the area, it'll be a house or there.

Getting up & taking a bow...

Thank you kindly Ma'am... oh bless your heart!
