I was in Huntsville during thanksgiving of last year. I really like Huntsville area, specifically Madison. I may visit again soon, and if I continue to like what I see, I may move down there 10 years from now.

If things keep going like they are now, prices will increase dramatically in the next 10 years.

The same can be said for pensacola ( escambia fl) and its surrounding counties. That leaves baldwin county, the Fastest-growing county in the state, in the middle. Its only a matter of time until alabama has its first multi state msa or csa ( columbus ga, but it isnt in alabama)

Food for thought: As baldwin county continues to boom and foley continues to develope, a person driving in a car will be able to take highway 98 coming out of mobile, eastbound, and will actually feel like theyre in civilization for the whole ride up until sand destin, fl. Thats like 4 hours lol
Unfortunately.

Or take i-10 as a faster route and choose an exit deemed necessary for your destination along the coast. But via highway 98 eastbound is pretty cool and has plenty of worthy stops otw down to the world class beaches

They are already high, for Alabama standards.

If you drive 459 or 20/59 west, particularly in the west Hoover area the 63 and 31 tags outnumber everything else. I never looked for this, it just hit me in the face one day.

There's some pretty rural area between Lucedale and Mobile. Same to Pascagoula. It's a bit of a drive. But they base it on commuting patters best I can tell ... 25% of the workers in a county have to commute to the central county for it to become a part. I think desires of the locals plays a part too (e.g., Decatur/Morgan County doesn't want to be a part). I'm not certain of the last part though -- I've just heard that.

Gotcha. But there is a lot of rural with Washington county (north of Mobile) but they are apart of Mobile's MSA now. Now on the other hand there is a lot of industry in North Mobile county near Axis so that may play a part.

If i'm not mistaking,I thought Huntsville's city limits occupy the same counties (Morgan and Limestone) as Decature ? If so that should automatically qualify them as a part of the MSA right ? After all both cities occupy the same counties with the exception of Madison with Huntsville.
