Otis formed Sunday 22Oct South of Mexico. As of Tuesday 24Oct 8aEDT winds 65mph(100km/h), moving NNW 8mph(13km/h), pressure 997mb. Hurricane/TS Warnings for the coast. Center about 160miles(255km) SE of Acapulco Mexico. NHC with 85mph Hurricane near/just a north of there Wednesday.
Otis has unexpectedly rapidly intensified this afternoon, now Cat3 with Cat4 expected soon with landfall late tonight / early Wednesday now. Hurricane winds extend up to 30miles(45km) from center, TS winds up to 70miles(110km). Center about 105miles(170km) SE of Acapulco, Mexico.

Continues record strengthening pace, now beating out Patricia(2015) for fastest Eastern Pacific rate of intensification since 1966 (satellite era). 80mph...from 65mph to 145mph in 12hrs.

Hurricane Otis still strengthening as it nears the coast of southern Mexico with maximum sustained winds estimated to be near 165 mph. Otis is forecast to remain a category 5 hurricane through landfall overnight
