If only the idol of the GOP secured the border way back then. I'm talking about that stalwart of American conservatism, a true American hero, the one and only amnesty loving Ronald Reagan . He could have secured the border after he passed amnesty, but he didn't. Blame Reagan for setting the US on the path its on now, ironically.
He was promised by congress that it would be secured. Congress failed him and he lived to regret signing that amnesty. It was also promised that there would never be another amnesty and look what has happened long after he left office and died.
I am not hardliner on immigration but I certainly am on illegal immigration. If we have only bark and no bite why hasn't congress passed an amnesty or the Dream Act? It is because of our bite (input) that it hasn't.

I think illegals and their supporters are under the impression Obama's victory equals an amnesty mandate. They don't realize many people who voted for him (including some Hispanics) also vehemently oppose illegal immigration. Let him try to pass amnesty.

Unless Obama plans on pulling another fast one he will never get it through congress but he can tell Hispanics "well at least I tried".
I have noticed this also. Everytime I turn on the news it is all about the Hispanic vote and how the GOP will have to give them what they want in the future (amnesty) or they are dead in the water. Disgusting! So now our politicians are to be blackmailed by a certain group?

At the rate the media is going, according to them we will all have no choice but to learn and speak only spanish as well as do whatever the "hispanic" population tells us to do. As for Obama, he's a rich man and his daughters will not be affected by the "shift" in America's cultural and racial make up. Obama is between a rock and a hard place. He needs to placate latino voters somehow, but he doesn't want to lose the support of his corporate sponsors that rely on illegal immigrant labor to sustain themselves. Who knows, maybe Obama and the Democrats will just give lip service to the latino community and throw them under the bus like he does with the black community, knowing that he has their vote in his back pocket no matter what he does and the liberal media will not dare criticize a sitting Democrat president, especially the first black one. The latino community wants legalization, his corporate sponsors wants them to continue to be illegal. Once legalized, their source of cheap labor is gone, and thus the need to import more and more
They honestly don't think black or white votes counted in any way or had any effect on this election. On Mexican radio stations they are claiming that the Mexican vote is what has gotten Obama into the White House twice now.
Maybe they're right? Maybe all the votes made by white and black Americans were tossed into a shredder and it only matters how the illegals and other "latinos" voted. That's how even the media makes it seem.

How he did not win by a land slide is beyond me
He won with almost the same margin was Bush did in 2004, 50% plus a few tenths of a percent. Romney lost with 48%, as did John Kerry
So, Obama "owes" Latinos amnesty? Do tell. I wonder what he owes the millions of non-Hispanic voters whose votes gave him a second term.
This just proves that Tears for Fears song from the 80's: "Everybody wants to rule the world.' And makes me wonder if Latinos only voted for Obama over Romney just to push their ethnocentric agendas, as white people accuse blacks of? Obama owes the entire country. All of us. Not just your latino, black or other vote that does not buy him as your union rep.
