As someone who always admires strong tactical moves, the president's plan, from the standpoint of politics, is ingenious. 3 years of deportation stays for millions..hmmm..has anyone noticed election day 2016 will be within one year of that ending. Like it or hate it, this will do 1 of 2 things, (1) Have GOP actually passing Comprehensive Reform with a pathway to citizenship, or (2) Cementing the Dem's historic 2012 Latino voting plurality.

Enough already, Bob.

Why do you insist on stereotyping Hispanics as being a monolith that marches in lock step with La Raza and all wanting amnesty?

And, bob? Once again---answer this question. 40 million Americans can trace all or part of their roots back to Ireland. So why aren't politicians pandering to them with promises of amnesty for the illegal Irish?

73-27, Bosniad, the 2012 results. 5 million vote margin! The parties tonight were not at the Italian immigrant social clubs, btw.

The 2012 POTUS stats sent a loud and clear message, and my gut feeling is 2016 GOP campaign will feature even more crazy talk than Mitten's self-deportation "thought".

73% of a voting bloc that amounts to 10% of the entire voting population doesn't amount to a hill of beans, bob.

And why weren't the parties pandering to Irish-Americans, bob? They are a far, far larger voting bloc than Hispanic-Americans.

Self-deportation isn't crazy talk, bob. I guess you would rather that police go around kicking in doors and asking for papers? Not, good, bob---not good at all.

5 million Latino plurality is far more than a hill of beans. Obama won overall by 5 million votes.

46% margin with 11-12% of all voters= an overall +5-5.5% affect (Latinos drop to about 10% off-years). Obama won by 3.9%. That means Obama lost the non-Latino vote.

And all those 5 million votes were from Latinos? Really?

Why do you refuse to answer my question about the Irish-American voting bloc, bob?

Yes, all 5 million margin were Latinos. That was simply the math of a 73-27 thrashing by 1/9th of all voters in 2012. A 5 million margin.

It happened to virtually match Obama's overall margin.

More important still, Latinos made up a larger % of all voters in 2012 in swing states than the nation at large.

Perhaps the GOP can study how W got 44%. Course he didn't mention stuff like self-deportation.

*** The Irish have not shown the propensity to vote 73-27 in either direction. Hence, they do not comprise a meaningful voting block.

IMHO the only reason many "Hispanics" hang onto being "others" is because there's money and bennies to play the "poor me" minority unlike even dark skin Italians in the US 100 years ago. Back then it wasn't "Ok" to milk the system because they would've been screwed so it was def in their best interest to "blend in". I say "Italian" because their culture is VERY much like Hispanic culture and many of them are quite dark skin too,

I'm of Irish family and many of us don't really care that much for Ireland in 2014 because we're def "American" at heart. The prejudice against us is dead because we stepped up and took care of business by the JFK time, 50 years ago.

Tho Ireland in 2014 might be good because the IRA said "we quit" AND the "prods" have stepped back too. Ireland ain't poor anymore.
