Americans did those jobs until they were displaced by illegals cutting wages.
Nothing faster than granting them ALL full amnesty.
Then we can put our resources on more pressing matters, like finding cures for deadly diseases like Cancer, Alzheimer's, HIV, tackling issues which cripple this country like racism, sexism, ageism, terrorism, giving the best care possible for the elderly, veterans, the sick, and the handicapped, and make higher education accessible to all. So much more we can do with the time and money it would take to try to legislate, pass, engage in legal fights, and implement this bigoted, idiotic Trump pipe dream.
You seem to forget that if they were legalized that sends a very direct message. Ignore US immigration laws and you will be rewarded. No need to wait in line.
Money. Most of those illegals are working low income jobs. They will be on our welfare roles. Mean while we produce enough lower educated workers. We have no need for illegals.

The point is that it used to pay a livable wage until the arrival of millions of illegal aliens willing to work for those wages or less. You can't get a construction type job nowadays unless you speak Spanish either.

If anything, they hurt the economy and hurt American workers.
Who do you think built the roads, put roofs on buildings and mowed lawns (We mow our own lawn, btw) before we got infested with illegals? Americans did those jobs and will do them again once the illegals are gone. Do you know why that is? With illegals gone, sleazy employers will once again have to hire American citizens and legal immigrants. That means they will have to once again pay a decent wage, provide benefits and provide a safe working environment. So many Americans in the jobs you mentioned lost their livelihoods because they were being undercut by dishonest, sleazy competitors.
Illegals don't help the economy when they're being paid under the table and send a good deal of their money out of the country.
Illegals hurt many Americans by engaging in ID theft. So many native born Puerto Ricans have been victims of ID theft by illegals that the Puerto Rican government had to declare all Puerto Rico issued birth certificates null and void. Now when native-born Puerto Ricans need a copy of their birth certificate, they have to jump through many hoops to get a secured, certified copy.
Then there are the illegals who use a fake SSN. Many times that fake SSN actually belongs to a living person. The way the law currently is, it's okay if someone uses your SSN as long as they don't use your name with it. If someone is using your SSN but not your name with it, the SSA won't tell you. You only find out when the IRS comes after you for not filing a tax return on a job you never worked.
Since sleazy employers don't give illegals health insurance, the American taxpayers end up picking up the tab every time an illegal goes to the hospital. That includes paying for their anchor babies' birth costs.

My neighbor just redid his roof. His contractor didn't need illegals. It's obvious that Americans will do the work if paid a fair wage for the work.

I typically don't respond to LexusNexus' posts. You're right but I wouldn't claim they 'invaded' our country, I was around in the 80's when entire workforces were replaced overnight with busloads of illegals brought across the border by labor contractors. In the midwest meat packing plants offered Citizens good paying union jobs, then the big dogs like Armor decided they needed to make more money and replaced them all with illegals making minimum wage, it destroyed the economy of many small towns. We have an ugly legacy, and big business and the government have been complicit in looking the other way while our jobs were turned over to illegal immigrants. If no one was willing to hire them, or if the government had done their job and arrested employers who did very few would have crossed the border, the beaches are better in Mexico
