I became aware of a problem when we lived in southern AZ and my son with special needs was denied adequate services because there wasn't enough money in the Special Education funding. I was told that ESL fell in that budget. I told them "My son doesn't even have a first language!" I learned that most schools simply ignored illegal alien students because butts in the seats still brought in funding.

We now live about 6 blocks from the teaching college in the state. The elementary school that is about 3 blocks from the state teaching college has 3 stars out of 10 with the other schools doing almost equally as bad in town.
The town is known for its illegal alien population. Jobs are disappearing for them as even the meat and dog food industry has went high tech which they cannot handle so they simply have more anchor babies to increase the income into the household.

My son was out of school when we moved here but head lice and bedbugs are very common among the school age population.

When I started school and even when my children started school, we had to produce a certified copy of a birth certificate.

"Free public education"? I don't think that was meant for everyone in the world.

Great article!

I've seen this happen to the schools in my area. The schools my daughter went to have gone really downhill. The once good elementary school that she went to, now can't even get full accreditation from the state. I never thought that our community would be dealing with overcrowded housing, gangs and anchor babies who, despite having been born here, come to school not knowing a word of English. Even worse, the Spanish that they do know is atrocious---they don't even know their colors and can't tell red from blue. Teachers will tell you that when kids start school like that, they never will fully catch up. All this puts serious strains on the schools.

With Trump in the presidential race, we have a chance to turn the corner when it comes to PC BS---and I hope this country seizes the opportunity to put an end to that nonsense.

No one's put a feasible plan on the table to solve this illegal immigration problem. It's sad that the government doesn't go after businesses that hire illegal immigrants. There should be stiff fines and jail time for those who provide jobs to illegal immigrants. The best way to get them out of here is to make it impossible for them to survive.

That being said, don't rely on low quality public institutions to educate your children. They deserve better. There's plenty of private schools that are excellent.

Not everyone can afford private schools and I haven't seen any in KS in the cities we have lived in. It is limited to religious, usually Catholic for private school.

I went to school in MI when the state was booming. I think at the time MI had one of the best school systems. If Trump were elected and the tax base widens there should be more funding for the schools. Back to basics, reading, writing and arithmetic or not graduation. There was a job where my husband had been working that required the applicant to read a ruler down to 1/16. It was almost impossible for them to find someone with that skill.

Cruz wants vouchers as part of promoting religious education which is another part of his "Christian theocracy" plan. This will further starve our struggling schools who would be trying to educate the illegal aliens and anchors that he would allow to stay in the country with an array of public assistance benefits for the whole family.

Where we live, the average family income is about $35,000 a year. The only ones having more than one child are illegal aliens and they have 3 to 5 per each family/single which we support.

The more uneducated people we let in, the more The Left can demand for education funding. It is all part of the plan to turn the U.S. into a third world socialist country where the political elite live cushy lives "taking care of" the starving masses.

This thread's about ILLEGAL aliens of ANY heritage, not Asian kids.

Too; if we're gonna go there with the 'race card", it ain't anglo white kids that have the most problems, it's Black males. IF talking about people out of a 100.
