So you didn't read the comment prior to mine? It stated that we should charge companies who hire illegal immigrants with felonies.

That would not be the greatest idea...Legal fees could kill a company, thus reducing jobs.

Oh well.

Make an example of a few companies and the rest will fall in line quite quickly. E-Verify will protect against lawsuits.

That negates your previous point of wanting more jobs...

If enough people became involved with organizations that are trying to stop illegal immigration and limit legal immigration, it'd make such a huge difference. Most people just vent because they're angry and few actually take action by getting involved to effect some real changes.

If any of you are really serious, and want to get involved check out NumbersUSA. They're a lobbyist group that's trying to stop illegal immigration and limit legal immigration. They've lobbied on behalf of E-verify, and all sorts of other important issues.

They keep track of senate voting records and you can view them on their site to see how your state senators have voted on illegal immigration favoring illegals over Americans.

It ends with your votes. If your state senator is screwing Americans by favoring illegals then vote them out of office in 2010/2012!

Disclosure: I'm half Mexican on my Fathers side but he came here legally during WWI and fought for this country. I however do not like illegals that abuse the system. This simply has to come to a screaming halt.

In practice, of course not.

Better to lose a handful of criminal enterprises that knowingly hire illegals vs. a slew of outfits still in business that do so with no enforcement of E-Verify, etc. Bottom line there will be more jobs available for Americans under the former scenario.

Man, that's powerful stuff maybe we should all move to Iran, North Korea or Mexico. They have great immigration laws! Who's applying for a visa and packing first? Think about the type of place you want to live. Who's trying to get into those countries anyway? And why?

Not at all. When a few companies are made an example of others will dump their illegals and hire legal citizens. By making E-verify mandatory this will help to protect employers as well as legal citizens. The only ones who don't win are the criminals.
