True but I don't have to buy weed and pay the tax.

I know you were being tongue in cheek, but Cannabis won't rescue anything. It is however one of the few things Illinois got right. Stop the madness, legalize and tax it like alcohol.

The property tax issue doesn't seen to have an answer. It prevents us from up-sizing. We look at homes all the time, but refuse to pay over $10K per year in property taxes, which pretty much caps us at $400K. Found a beautiful home the other day for $450K, but taxes are $17K per year, sorry, never going to happen! I feel bad for people trying to sell in this scenario, they have to keep lowering the asking price to get people to justify the insane taxes. Many if not most homes we look at are selling for less than what the current owner paid.

Yep reminds me of the Chicago casino. Lightfoot and the dems were informed by their economic advisers that noone is going to invest and build it with the taxes they are proposing. They truly are completely clueless on finance and economics.

^^^
Smart investors are steering clear due to the high start-up costs, and high taxation rates on recreational cannabis products; a graduated tax. Pritzger should have known this, as he sold his casino upon running for office.

I am hoping Cannabis revenue will at least keep property taxes from rising much in the county I live in. (Jo Daviess) Northwest Illinois. Time will tell.

When has a new tax ever solved anything in this state? No way is some weed tax going to help out here.
