Illinois seems to be bleeding "red" residents. They're finding other states, more conservative places (like Indiana, Florida, Texas, etc.) to live in. Of course you also see some liberal residents moving for reasons like cheaper COL and better weather but it seems like those in the "conservative" camp are looking for refuge.

I can't think of a better example than DuPage, once red as a stop sign; now almost 60% blue.
I'm certain JB Porkchop will win easily come June, as voters do not have very long memories.
Not that it matters, as any Republican gov simply gets blocked by the house and senate; and are ineffective.

Either that or they pull a Rauner, start behaving like a Democrat, and get rejected by voters from both parties.

Illinois was among the top 3 states to lose the most residents in 2021 despite the influx of residents moving to the state (with the other two states being NY and California). The only other common denominator between all three states is how "blue" their governing bodies are. People need to "wake up", if they haven't already and think about what and who they're voting for.

How are you going to wake them up when they're already "woke".

What's your sales tax rate for online purchases?.
I just noticed ours went up...to 10%!.
I'm soooooooooo thrilled to be paying for bloated pensions, doled out last century; to retired teachers and admins that don't even reside in Illinois anymore.
This was JB Porkchop's grand plan, tax the $hit out everyone even more; to increase their bond rating.

People are also fleeing Republican run rural areas. Not just in Illinois, but places where Democrats haven’t held any substantial power at the state level for a long time.

Most people seem to want to live in blue cities and suburbs in red or purple states right now.

Much of rural red America has a worse future than Chicago IMO.

Indiana's sales tax remains at 7%. Illinois' plan has consistently been "just tax them more". The more people that move away, the greater the tax burden becomes on the few that remain. The hamburglar... errr... Pritzker strikes again!

I'm glad you found paradise in Indiana but why bother posting on the Illinois forum. Get out there and enjoy your new state.
Thanks
