I'll fess up. I changed the title of this thread, because, in light of the severity of the snow on Tuesday, those who went to the store to stock up on Monday weren't so stupid afterall.

with this additional snowfall, the snow is now as high as our mailbox.

maybe I should have gone down to the Boat Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds today. Ruppert is there.

Default Cautious Hoosiers

I know what you mean. My neighbor and I bumped into each other before the "Valentine's Day Blizzard." We commented how we felt a little silly "stocking up" for 6-12 inches of expected snowfall when people in upstate NY don't seem to panick when 12 feet of snow is on it's way! lol
However, I was glad the next morning!

We actualy had been out of milk/bread/eggs before I had gone shopping and when woke, we found that we were buried! There was nearly 2 feet of snow on the driveway and the plows were nowhere in site. Our neighbors were stuck in the street and the plows didn't get down our way until well after 9pm. Had I stuck with my usual "what's the big deal" attitude you share, the kids would have been looking at me like orphans from Oliver Twist. lol
It doesn't help that the proximity of our home always means that the wind is blowing straight at us and therefore we get all our neighbors snow, too. This time the piles of snow are in excess of 5 feet.

So we can make fun of our seemingly over cautious Hoosiers, but I, for one am glad I was one of them this time. (We're headed for DC soon. Trust me, though folks can't handle couple of inches of snow and forget about ice. The whole city shut down the day we got a foot of snow here.)

A good scout!

where i used to live @ my brothers in southern indiana, we got snow last year, & ice and was snowed in for 2 days. we tried to get into town,, but it was to slick, & we were about 10 min from the main highway in good weather, so i can see why some people would panic.
