I am looking to move to Salem, to be around the only family I really have left, and am looking for a rent to own or contract for deed home. If anyone knows anyone willing, please let me know. Byrdkristine@aol.com. Thanks

I'm from Louisville, and I like Salem! No, I don't do drugs, or drink!

Smile Kentucky OR Indiana?

I am a single middle aged woman with no kids. I work in the Spa industry as an Esthetician.. I live in Wisconsin.. I love it here.. but.. my only complaint is traveling a great distance for everything you want to go and do.. I want accessibility to all small shops.. grocery stores.. malls..but.. not a city lady.. I am considering Kentucky or Indiana. Never been to either. I want a place I can re start my business up from home.. I also would like to save to buy a home or land and have a home build.. I love log cabins and that is my dream to own one. I want a nice cost of living.. rent wise.. I am paying 650.00 a month for two bedroom apartment and I have to pay all the utilities which brings the cost.. Way....up. I need a lot cheaper.. or to rent a home . I have dogs that need a back yard.. but I don't want to be in the boon docs somewhere.. I want low.. low crime.. area and to not have to worry there. I don't have good bakeries or pizza here.. I love sea food.. can't find a sea food shop here even. I like quaintness. Hope someone can help direct me .. which state would be better and why.. my email is starrfillednights2007@yahoo.com.. Thank You Leah

The whole town is trash.... The schools pass people who's parents of someone of importance... Treat people like **** that are big and won't play football.... The legal system is crooked.... Everyone talks behind everyones back.... They turned the homeless shelter into a woman's shelter so now homeless men sleep in the carwash.... If you have to go to court the lawyers try to get you to sign a deal whether you are in the wrong or not, because they get paid either way... The Lawyers in Salem along with a judge has been brought up on legal charges for cocaine in Florida

I currently live in Albuquerque, NM. I lived in Salem back in 2003-2005 and can’t WAIT to get back. Salem is a wonderful little town. As for the “meth” problem, wake up !!! Meth is a problem everywhere. Low paying jobs, look at the cost of living and do a comparison. For all those who dislike Salem, tell you what …MOVE!!!!

Lots of things have changed since 2003-2005 in Salem. For one, the county now has 20% fewer jobs. It is a giant mess just like many other areas these days.

I do realize the job loss in Salem, my husband is back there and after 3 months he finally has a job in Scottsburg. Currently I'm taking care of a family member here in NM, but when the time's right I'll be back in Salem. We're close to retirement and Salem is affordable for those on fixed incomes. The weather is also pleasant. Maybe Salem should promote the "retirement angle".
