Whoa, whoa, whoa. You say:

Quote:
Tell us who you support and give atleast a few examples. I will not count people that say Ballard sucks Kennedy sucks etc without reasons and details.

Then you go on to say:

Quote:
Totally agree (that "Kennedy is a tyrant pinko socialist") yet i hope Indy is smart enough to realize that. However like with most democrats Kennedy will probably encourage everyone to vote especially for her. It doesnt matter though as this november 8th well see if Mayor Ballard gets another term or if i am going to give Kennedy an earful in 2015 and 2019.

just what i thought with typical democraps

I'm actually undecided in this race, but it's clear that you are not so why even start this thread with those ground rules?

Where is your reason and your details?

Wrong. Mayor Ballard had nothing to do with the property tax caps.

Also, Mayor Peterson had more to do with the Super Bowl coming here than Mayor Ballard. Without the new stadium, which Mayor Peterson supported and the majority of Republicans were against, there is no Super Bowl in Indianapolis and the Colts would likely be in Los Angeles by now. Fortunately we had a mayor at that time with some vision, who saw beyond the "no new taxes" line.

So you want a debate clear of personal attacks or you don't? You indicated you did in your first post and then went on to agree that Melina Kennedy is "a tyrant pinko socialist."

That does not sound very civil to me.

Again, I am not at all certain that I will vote for Kennedy. I just happen to hate those who come across as middle of the road when they clearly have an agenda. You obviously support Mayor Ballard and that is OK. Good for you. Just say it at the beginning instead of trying to act like you want to stay out of the mud. You even brought him up in your jobs thread for crying out loud. The same thread where you said Franklin was part of the metro area and tried to take credit for jobs there.

Yes, I see bright things in your future as a political candidate.

Someone asks for advice concerning areas "outside the city" and you suggest downtown and Fountain Square. Typical politician. Don't answer the question, just get it back to your message/opinion.

Keep this slogan in mind though. Evan for Mayor i wont tolorate crap. Could Be Political crap or crime crap whatever the citizens dont like i agree with. The Mayor should be working for the city not himself. Heck i would love to see who i face try and pledge to cut their Mayoral salary like i will by 50%. from 96500$ a year to 50,000$ a year and use that extra money saved to hire cops.

I like it. Have you sent your resume and these ideas to Mayor Ballard? He might want a guy just like you on his staff. You know, a "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" kind of thing. He certainly won't want to face the likes of you in any future elections for other offices.

I personaly think Ballard should get a 2nd term cause he followed his campaign promise of lowering and capping property taxes. Crime has also went down and job growth has been very good in Indy especially compared to other midwestern cities. Plus he got us Super Bowl 46.
Ballard didn't cap property taxes, the people of the State of Indiana did that via a vote. I was a fan of Ballard, a nobody, but I think he quickly realized he was in over his head. Instead of being a leader, he has basically turned the city over to a coalition of political insiders. Why does the mayor of any city need lawyers from a big law firm sitting in on meetings?

Ballard won't win, because he pretty much ticked off all his grassroots anti-establishment block that helped him beat Peterson. They are all against him now, and most assume Melina (Not Melinda) Kennedy could easily be just as bad. As such, I don't see Ballard winning.

I heard a few stories about crime being the reason some liberals were upset with Peterson. Barf Peterson seemed to tick off some of the liberal block by focusing too much on bailing out billionaires and millionaires by helping or giving them direct tax income, or tax breaks. All the while, the number one crime that affects the average voter is vandalism and theft. Too many politicians focus on homicides to court the black vote, but homicides don't affect the overall population. I think crime is up. I was told in a college class that at least a decade ago, only 1/3rd of all crime is reported, for various reasons. Not sure if that figure is still correct or not.

With Melina, she is just a mirror image of Ballard. She comes out saying she will cut the Director of Public Safety position, which does seem to be a position that doesn't need to exist. However, I've read she is now back talking on that. Someone in the Marion County Dem party wants to give some party hack that six-figure job. The hack then in turn donate more to the party. She also thinks she can fix poor schools, and is running ads claiming she has an education plan. The Mayor has no control over public schools, only charter schools. Unless she just plans on cutting governments somewhere and giving IPS money, I don't see much she can do. Of course it sounds good, especially to the poor community, so it is pretty clear this is a grab for those votes.

All these issues are why I choose to not live inside the confines of Marion County, and will always go for the lowest costs living if I ever move into a municipality in the future (I'm unincorporated right now). I really don't care who folks vote for. I see both these folks as typical big-city politicians.

So the choices really are Greg Ballard (R-Barnes and Thornburg) or Melina Kennedy (D-Baker and Daniels).

Which Republicans were against the stadium? Kinda an odd statement since a whole lot of Republicans made Lucas Oil Stadium a reality.
